We ask you to support the annual programs of Rotary Club of West Springfield Foundation by purchasing raffle tickets and/or by making a donation. Our traditional fundraising activities have been very limited since the Pandemic started, and the goal of this raffle is to help fund our critical programs for the new Rotary year (July 2021 - June 2022).
The Foundation supports many local, national and international projects. For example, we provided over $18,000 this year supporting those in need from our local community. We provided Snack Bags and Backpacks/Supplies for deserving school children. We provided food and financial support to local charities including ECHO and the Lorton Community Action Center. We continue to provide need-based scholarships to NVCC for West Springfield High School seniors; dictionaries for third grade students in local schools; and annual awards recognizing local teachers and first responders. The Foundation also supports several national and international projects. With the help and financial assistance of Rotary International and local Rotary Clubs, we are supporting several schools in Sierra Leone and water projects in other countries. Also, we make annual contributions to Rotary International for their efforts to totally eradicate the live polio virus in the world.
Since we could not hold our usual in-person fundraising events due to the Pandemic, this raffle will help replenish the Foundation funds and allow us to continue these and other programs throughout 2021.
You can help support our efforts by purchasing 10 raffle tickets for $25; 25 tickets for $50 or 50 tickets for $100. The winner's name will be drawn at a special online event at 7:30 PM on Saturday, May 1, but you do not have to be present to win. Save this link so you can attend virtually on May 1: https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/783612309. Also, you have the option to make a separate donation (with or without buying tickets) which will go directly to the Foundation's programs.
1st ticket drawn wins $5,000 or 40% of the net proceeds, whichever is less.
We thank all those participating in this Raffle. Also, we want to especially thank our annual sponsors. This year's major sponsors include: NT Concepts, Alcorn & Cureton Ltd. and Wilkinson PM & HomeFirst Realty. If you would like to be a sponsor or attend one of our meetings, leave a message at 703-672-1597 or contact us at email@example.com
Our club was founded in 1980 as the Springfield Breakfast Rotary Club and met at the Springfield Howard Johnson's. The Club name was changed in 1996 to the West Springfield Rotary Club.
In 1982 the club moved to a meeting facility at the old Hunter Motel. In 1984 the Club began meeting weekly at the Springfield Golf & Country Club (until March 2020) for breakfast followed by a topical program from 7:30 to 8:30 am. The Springfield Golf & Country Club is located on Old Keene Mill Road just east of the intersection of Old Keene Mill Road and Rolling Road. Due to COVID-19 the Club now holds weekly online meetings. The NXT Satellite Club meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month , also online, at 6:30 pm.
